Introduction : Where Snow Meets the Soul
As the final sun of 2024 rose over the white Himalayan peaks, I stood on the Kedarkantha summit, overwhelmed – not by the cold, but by emotion. Organizing this trek under my company, Explore With Mitali, was more than just leading a group to 12,500 ft. – it was about living the mountains, surviving their tests, and soaking in their silent beauty.
This blog isn’t just an itinerary – it’s a heartfelt story of snow trails, leadership challenges, breathless ascents, and one unforgettable sunrise.
Day 1 : Dehradun to Sankri – The Road to the Mountains
We began our journey with laughter and anticipation. The drive from Dehradun to Sankri was a visual treat – forests, fading sun, chilly breeze, and sleepy villages. As the organizer, I made sure everyone had the right gear and mindset. Sankri welcomed us like an old friend – a small village tucked in the lap of snow-laced mountains.

Day 2 : Sankri to Juda Ka Talab – Into the Snow Globe
The trek started with pine forests and fresh snow underfoot. By afternoon, we reached Juda Ka Talab – a half-frozen lake surrounded by dense trees and silence. The night dropped to minus temperatures.
Challenges came early: one guest had muscle cramps, another faced mild breathing difficulty. As a leader, my role shifted from guide to motivator, caretaker, and emotional anchor. But the spirit of the group remained high.

Day 3 : Juda Ka Talab to Base Camp – A blanket of White
The path turned steeper and the snow deeper. Every step felt like a story in the making. Snow fights, shared chocolates, and stunning views kept the moral up. We reached base camp by evening, surrounded by untouched white silence. It felt like we were alone in the universe.

Day 4 : The Summit – Where The Sky Turned Gold
We started before down. The wind bit into our gloves, but the determination burned stronger. Only three of us finally summited – but it was worth every drop of sweat. As the sun rose behind Swargarohini, the sky exploded in colors.
I couldn’t hold back tears. not just because of the view – but because of the effort, the people and the moment.

Day 5 : Hargaon to Sankri – Back with Full Hearts
Before descending, we celebrated New Year’s Eve on the night of 31st December at Hargaon campsite with our trek staff and guides. There were we do dance as a local style, local music, and cut the cake which was made by our kitchen staff. It was quiet but soulful celebration in the heart of the Himalayas.
The next morning, we descended slowly, letting the memories sink in. Snow slides made us laugh like kids. By the time we reached Sankri, we weren’t the same people who had started 5 days ago.
